A jury trial in Los Angeles, California has declared dr. Conrad Murray disengara not guilty of murder in June 2009 that led to the death of pop singer Michael Jackson.

The 12-member jury reached a decision on Monday after two days of talks. The trial lasted several weeks, and presented nearly 50 witnesses. Hundreds of people, many of them fans of this pop singer, standing outside the courthouse and cheered when the decision was read.



Murray faces charges of giving Jackson a powerful anesthetic drug, propofol, to help her sleep but then failed to monitor the health of the singer. They said that Murray did not have the equipment to save the lives of the king of pop music.

Some witnesses said that propofol was not given to sleeping pills, and should only be used in the operating room with strict monitoring.

Jackson's defenders say it injects itself into the body and the propofol dose is too high. She says there is no evidence that physicians Murray made ​​a mistake. Murray did not give testimony to defend himself.

Murray is a cardiologist, under sentence of four years imprisonment and loss of license to practice.

Jackson died on June 25, 2009 at his home in Los Angeles, at the age of 50 years.
